Privacy Policy

Effective January 1, 2026. This explains what we collect, why, and how you stay in control.

Your manuscript is your intellectual property, not ours. We store it securely, process it only to run the service you asked for, and never use it to train AI models or share it with anyone outside the providers listed below.

1. What we collect

We collect the information you give us directly: your name, email address, and the manuscripts, figures, references, and other files you upload to your projects. We also collect basic technical data like login timestamps and error logs that help us keep the service running reliably.

2. How we use it

  • To provide the service: extracting content from your uploads, compiling LaTeX, and rendering previews.
  • To process AI extraction and AI assisted fixes through our AI providers (see below), on your behalf.
  • To manage your account, subscription, and billing through Stripe.
  • To send you essential account email, such as email verification, password resets, and billing receipts.
  • To improve TeXpress's reliability and features, using aggregated, non identifying usage data where possible.

3. AI processing of your documents

When you use AI extraction or "Fix with AI," the relevant portion of your document is sent to our third party AI provider to generate a response. That data is used only to fulfill your request. We do not use your manuscript content to train AI models, ours or anyone else's. If you supply your own API key (BYOK), those requests go directly from our systems to your provider using your key, under your agreement with that provider.

4. Payment information

Billing is handled by Stripe. We do not store your full card number on our servers. Stripe processes and stores payment details under its own security and privacy practices, which are independently PCI compliant.

5. Who we share data with

We share data only with the service providers needed to run TeXpress: our AI providers (for extraction and fix requests), Stripe (for billing), and our hosting infrastructure, each bound to use it only to provide their service to us. We do not sell your personal data or manuscript content, and we never will.

6. Cookies and analytics

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and to remember preferences like light/dark mode. We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not sell or share your data with advertisers.

Our public pages, meaning the home page, pricing, FAQ, contact, and these policy pages, together with the sign in and sign up pages, use Google Analytics to count visits and understand which pages people find useful.

Analytics cookies are off until you accept them. The first time you visit a public page we ask, and until you choose, analytics storage is denied: no analytics cookies are set. If you accept, Google Analytics sets its own cookies and records the page you viewed, roughly where in the world you are, and which site referred you. Your choice is remembered in your browser, and you can change it at any time by clearing your browser storage for this site, which makes the banner appear again.

If you decline, we do not simply stop measuring: the Google tag stays on the page in a restricted, consent-denied mode where it sets no cookies, cannot identify you or recognise you across visits, and sends only aggregated, cookieless signals that Google uses to estimate overall traffic. We are telling you this plainly rather than describing a decline as switching analytics off, because that would not be accurate. If you would rather nothing at all were sent, any standard browser tracking protection or ad blocker will block it, with no effect on how TeXpress works.

Google Analytics is deliberately not loaded anywhere inside the product. Your dashboard, editor, projects, profile, and billing pages carry no analytics or tracking of any kind, in any consent state, so no project name, manuscript title, or document content is ever sent to Google. The consent banner itself never appears on those pages, because there is nothing there to consent to.

7. Your choices

You can access, export, or delete your projects at any time from your dashboard. You can delete your account from your profile settings. When you do, your content is removed permanently and your account record is anonymized; we retain only minimal account, billing and audit records that we are required to keep and that no longer identify you. This includes the number of project slots your email has used, so that deleting and re-creating an account does not reset free-tier limits.

8. Data security

We use industry standard measures, including encryption in transit, strict access controls, and regular review of our infrastructure, to protect your data. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but safeguarding your manuscripts is a design requirement for us, not an afterthought.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy occasionally. Material changes will be communicated by email or with a notice on the site before they take effect.
